Dan Hurst - We're going to take a few moments and talk to Kim Zimmer. Good morning.

Kim - Hello.

Dan - How are you?

Kim - I'm good, how are you?

Dan - I am gorgeous today.

Kim - Oh yes?

Dan - Yes, you should see me.

Kim - (laughing) What are you wearing?

Dan - Oh, you know what, it's not often that a beautiful woman asks me that. Just let me bask in this for a moment.

Kim - (still laughing) Okay.

Dan - We're talking to Reva Shayne Lewis Spaulding Lewis Cooper Lewis...

Kim - At least.

Dan - Otherwise known as Kim Zimmer. Kim, how are you?

Kim - I'm good, you look so gorgeous today!

Dan - Well, you know, I'm having a good hair day.

Kim - It's your sunny personality.

Dan - It's a good day.

Kim - Good.

Dan - And you're coming to Kansas City.

Kim - Yes, I am.

Dan -  That is so neat.

Kim - It will be my first trip to Kansas City.

Dan - Oh, where shall I begin to explain what you need to do here. You definitely need to try the barbecue.

Kim - Okay, that doesn't fit into my Weight Watchers plan.

Dan - No, the barbecue here is all very lean.

Kim - Oh, I'm sure it is.

Dan - You definitely need to do some shopping at the Plaza and of course Town Center. That's another nice place to go shopping.

Kim - Great.

Dan - And of course you can do some holiday shopping so you'll be ready for that. And let's see, what else do you need to do? You want to go up on Waterworks Hill and make out with somebody, that's always fun.

Kim - Oh darn, okay!

Dan - So bring the hubby along and things will be happening for you.

Kim - I wish I could, unfortunately it's a quick trip for us.

Dan - Oh darn it. You're going to be here with six others of your compatriots there on Guiding Light.

Kim - That's right.

Dan - Let's talk a little bit about this. You're going to be at Blue Valley High School, kind of a fundraiser for a great organization there which is called "It's Up To Us."

Kim - Right.

Dan - And this organization was started unfortunately and sadly enough because a number of students were killed in car accidents.

Kim - Yeah, and I have one son that's just getting ready to drive and a daughter, well she's 20 now.

Dan - Get out of here!

Kim - I can totally sympathize with this organization.

Dan - You have a 20 year old?

Kim - I have a 20 year old, a 16 year old and a 12 year old.

Dan - My God, Kim, were you 9 years old?

Kim - I love you!

Dan - Oh my Lord. Well, you know you what it's like then and what parents are thinking right now when their children are driving and all of the angst that one goes through.

Kim - Absolutely, and the roads are different then when I was learning to drive certainly.

Dan - Isn't that true? And how are you going to do a fundraiser, what's the deal here?

Kim - Well, we have a Guiding Light Actor's Workshop group here at the studio that was put together by a group of actors that just wanted to spread their wings a little. Most of us are trained in theater and you get on a soap and you don't have the opportunity to perform in theatrical shows, plays, in front of live audiences anymore. The schedule just doesn't permit it so we started an organization here at the studio that we do play readings. We read this one particular play and decided it would be wonderful because of the context of the play, a wonderful piece to go ahead and maybe try to produce ourselves so we're coming to Kansas City. We also wanted to use it as a form of getting ourselves to our affiliate markets and letting our affiliates get to know us and our fans in high demographic areas for our show. Kansas City happens to be a wonderful area for our show. Pittsburgh, the South Florida, North Carolina, so it works for all of us. We're hoping to raise some money for the organization that we're going to be in Kansas City for and we're hoping to be able to spread our wings as actors a little bit as well and help our show maybe pull in some new viewers.

Dan - It's called the "Vendler Television Playhouse." That's a comedy.

Kim - It is a comedy and it is funny.

Dan - What is it about?

Kim - It's about the new age of television. It's about a television show in the early '50s and the actors who play the parts in this television production and there's all kinds of behind the scenes antics. Most of the action of the show takes place behind the scenes. My character is this fading Broadway diva who is being coerced into television because basically she's broke. Television is below her but she chooses to do it because she needs to pay her bills. Robert Newman plays this very funny new television actor who's from the stage as well who just doesn't get it. We're all playing kinds of stretches for ourselves. It's great fun. We laugh a lot as the actors performing it as well. We've cracked each other up several times.

Dan - Your career though is nothing like the character you're playing. You've got, what, three Emmy awards?

Kim - Three Emmys, yes.

Dan - For Outstanding Lead Actress.

Kim - Right, I was very lucky.

Dan - A couple of Soap Opera Digest Awards. Good Lord.

Kim - I've been very lucky and I've always had a wonderful fan base of very supportive people who have had to put up with a lot of antics from Reva over the years. It hasn't been easy for my fans to follow this person, Reva. They've been very loyal and very appreciative of my efforts and I thank them all.

Dan - What's coming up on Guiding Light? Give us a little scoop, what's going on.

Kim - Well, right now what's happen is Reva just got out of jail. I don't know if that's aired yet, so I do get out of jail.

Dan - All right, we don't know that.

Kim - Now I'm in big trouble.

Dan - We won't say that.

Kim - Right, well they have to know I'm going to get out. We're three weeks ahead so it takes a while for me to get out but Cassie does come to my rescue and shows up with a piece of paper that kind of exonerates Reva and I do get out of prison only to jump right back into trouble with my sister.

Dan - Now wait a minute, what were you in prison for?

Kim - I was in prison for killing my sister's husband.

Dan - Kind of a normal thing on daytime.

Kim - It was a mercy killing. He asked me to do it, of course there was no one around to hear him ask me and there was no evidence of a do not resuscitate order, which is why I got in trouble. He was on life support and he didn't want to put his family through that pain and agony. He wanted to die and he asked the only person he knew that could do it to do it which was me because I was strong enough to be able to do it.

Dan - I'm thinking, good Lord, you've been married six times on the show?

Kim - At least, three times to the same man.

Dan - So your sister comes in and rescues you. Who's pregnant on the show?

Kim - Nobody right now, which is very odd for our show.

Dan - You don't get pregnant in jail?

Kim - No I don't. That would be a little difficult although I wouldn't put it past Reva.

Dan - I'm telling you, it could happen.

Kim - Well, it doesn't happen to me.

Dan - You're in trouble with your sister, so now what?

Kim - Well, now I'm forced into a situation I don't want to be in but I feel like I owe her because I killed her husband so I get involved in something that when my husband finds out, he's going to be terribly upset with me. Maybe he won't find out, maybe he will, we don't know that. So there you are.

Dan - So that's the scoop ladies and gentlemen.

Kim - I'm not going to say what kind of trouble we get into but we do.

Dan - Well, we'll know by November 16th when you're here.

Kim - That's right, probably.

Dan - We can talk about that then. November the 16th, it's at Blue Valley High School. It's a fundraiser for the Blue Valley High Club called "It's Up To Us." Tickets are 25 bucks and it will be a lot of fun.

Kim - Yes, and I want to give a shout out to my fan club president who happens to live in Kansas City.

Dan - Who's that?

Kim - Actually in Peculiar. Her name's Shelli Miller.

Dan - Oh yeah!

Kim - She does a fabulous job for me and I love her dearly.

Dan - Great!

Kim - She'll be there too so everyone say hello to her.

Dan - Oh cool.

Kim - She's a beautiful blonde.

Dan - Kind of like you.

Kim - Yeah...I'm...Well, whatever! I've had some help! (laughing)
