As of this writing, only Reva's hand has gone through the painting, so it's too early to judge the time-travel storyline. But we can praise Kim Zimmer for putting her heart into yet another far-out GL plot.

As Reva, Zimmer spent days talking to the portrait of Olivia/Regina. If she wasn't so committed to the material, these scenes --- which were crucial because they set up the story --- would have made us think Reva should be committed. But because Reva was so intrigued, we were intrigued, especially when strange things started to happen, like the curtain starting to blow with the window closed.

The seance, in particular, illustrated Zimmer's talent. It was hilarious both intentionally and unintentionally, and Zimmer kept a straight face through it all. The humor was unintentional in that the Blake, Reva and Holly we've known for years would never sit on the floor and do such a thing. But it was also funny, intentionally, thanks to the dialogue and Zimmer's sublime performance. When Blake asked Reva what she saw, Zimmer intoned, "spaghetti." "OK, maybe you were Italian in a past life," Blake blubbered. Then Reva cracked up and said spaghetti was what she was planning to make for dinner.

Whatever Zimmer is handed, she makes the most of it. Other actresses would have been eaten alive by ridiculous storylines like Amish country or the clone. Yet Zimmer picks herself up, brushes off and says, "Bring on the next story." Let's just hope this one is kinder to her.
